Jesse Forest / ジェシ・フォレスト

1984年生まれ、アメリカ・バーモント州出身。
幼少の頃からクラシックギターを学び、イーストマン音楽院で行われたコンテストにて州を代表して優勝。
高校卒業後はNew Schoolジャズ科への入学を機にニューヨークへ渡る。
後にニューヨーク市立大学City College校音楽学部ジャズパフォーマンス科に編入。
2009年、同大学を首席で卒業しBFA学士号を取得。
在学中からZINC bar、Cornelia Street Café、55 bar、Bitter Endといったニューヨークの様々なクラブで、また国連本部でも演奏するなどして活躍。
2010年から日本へ移住するも、アメリカと日本で演奏活動を展開。
現在は自己のグループでオリジナルを演奏すると同時に、The Global Jazz Orchestraやヴォーカリスト東かおるとのStar In Greenといたユニット等でも活動中。
またギター演奏のみに留まらず、作詞作曲やアレンジャーとしても高い評価を得ている。

2016年3月9日、初となるリーダーアルバム”Lights Out”をApollo Soundsより発売。
関西発ジャズ情報誌Way Out West内「Jazz English」の執筆者としても知られている。

Born in 1984 in Vermont, the United States, Jesse Forest studied classical guitar from a young age. In highschool he began performing professionally on guitar and bass and won ensemble positions in regional and statewide jazz competitions and participated in intensives at the Eastman School of Music.

After graduation he moved to New York City and enrolled in the renowned New School jazz program and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz Performance with honors from The City College of New York. In NYC, he was active as a guitarist and electric bassist, performing at venues such as the Cornelia Street Cafe, the ZINC bar, the 55 bar, the United Nations, and the Bitter End.

Upon moving to Japan in 2010, he has continued to perform with groups such as the Global Jazz Orchestra, the duo unit Star in Green, as well as other groups, and in March 2016 released his CD of original compositions, “Lights Out” from the Apollo Sounds label in Tokyo, followed by a national tour at top venues in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, as well as a featured performance at Takatsuki Jazz Street, the biggest jazz festival in Japan. He continues to work as a composer, accompanist, session musician and band leader.
